The Village Gardens began in 1984 by Dana, TJ and Tom Nigro. We were like any fledgling flower shop, poking posies and twiddling our thumbs a lot. A couple years into it we decided things (business) were moving along too slow so we decided to take the #1 most recognized flower in the flower business, roses, and be the “King Of The Hill” with them.

We went on TV and radio and started selling cash and carry roses for $5.99 a dozen! We had more than that in them! But, it did generate a LOT of traffic in our store. Which was the goal. We made flower buyers out of people who were not flower buyers before. We exposed many, many people to the beautiful work our designers are capable of. We got to the point where we were selling 16,000 stems of roses a week and tons of other fresh flowers and plants.

Our customer base grew at a rapid rate. We were so excited by the success of the rose promotion that in 1993 we began to open more stores and a 20,000 square foot “Central Design Center”. We called the stores “Roses By The Village Gardens”.

Unfortunately we couldn’t sell roses at those prices forever and stay in business so we gradually increased the price to where we could make a little on them and still offer our customers a great value. The benefit to you is that with our volume, buying power and relationships with the farms forged over 20 years we are able to offer you the very freshest flowers and the very best prices.

Today we are known as simply “Village Gardens – Flowers For Any Occasion”. We decided to drop the “Roses By” part because there was a misperception we are a “Roses Only” kind of flower shop.
